Cultivating Some Culture

I heard a few famous people say something like, “my mother used to take me to museums...” It won’t hurt, I figured, to include museum going in Sienna’s upbringing even if she ends up being a cashier at the McDonald’s. Our destination today was the National Art Museum (Picture Top). It has been dressed up to look like the famous Mogao Grottes(Picture Bottom), a historical site for the finest Buddhist art on the Silk Road. Sienna was not particularly keen on this kind of cultural activity. The crowd effect won’t have made this a more interesting outing. I don’t blame her. When I was visiting the Metropolitan Museum of Art with the husband and friends, I ran a few halls ahead of them so that I could take a nap while waiting for them. But we went there to meet Big Brother Sun and a boy from his preschool class from Canada. That made up the fun. The first floor was a made-believe world of temples full of paintings and sculptures. I love the kite exhibition on the 5th floor though, especially this one featuring a spider web.
The entrance fee is CND$3 for an adult. And it’s free for children under 12.
