All about Growing up
I work near the center of the city's shopping universe. I got Sienna's clothes over my lunch hour. Without her presence, I can pretty much grasp her likes and dislikes. Sometimes it happens she would just refuse to wear what I got her. So today, we had a couple of hours to kill before the library opened. I took Sienna to a nearby mall for some window shopping.
I told her, "Let's go to some kids' clothes stores. You tell me what you like. We might not buy them today. But I will know better how to get you clothes later..." Around the corner, we encountered Club Monaco first. "This is Mommy's store," acknowledge Sienna. "Let's check this out first," I said as we entered.
Looking up to me, Sienna said, "Mommy, if you like something here, I get it for you when I grow up..." After a pause, she added, "if I see something I like, you get it for me when I grow up, ok?" A 4-year-old mind can get so complex, huh? And ever so cute.
As I blogged this before, Sienna saw a hole on Daddy's socks, she told Dad that she would buy him socks when she grows up. She re-stated her promise when she promised to buy me a pair of slippers when she grow up. Now quite a few weeks passed already, she is still at it. Last week, Sienna saw a package of a dozen socks that Dad in fact bought himself. She was a little disappointed, "Daddy, you got socks? You don't want me to get you socks anymore?" That's how serious she is about her business when she grows up.
