Bringing Back the Routine

Back to school day is coming up in a few days. We are working on getting Sienna back on her regular routine. During the winter break, I let her drag on till almost mid night and then sleep the morning away. That ought to change. Last night, she was all tucked in at ten after the rituals of book reading, the kissing, hugging and tickling. No noise or movement was allowed.

Later on, I learnt, although I was not supposed to learn, that she summoned the Daddy over. The two of them played three rounds of cards behind my back! While we two parents don’t usually give out conflicting messages, it’s nice to have one that plays a more flexible role sometimes. As I spend so much time with her and implement all the rules, I will have to give the benefit of that role to the Daddy. I am the “police mom.”
