The Loss of the Studio Home
Finally, we rent another “box house” across the compound for the husband to work there. He has been painstakingly working in a space one third of his studio in Canada. Yet the idea of having to commute a few minutes between the living and working space was hard to take. For him, they have always been one, the studio home.
The new place is ideal. It is spacious and has the right light from the north. This makes it easier for him to bear a 2-minute travel in the sun or rain and smog to get to eat or sleep. It might sound ironic, but it’s a big deal for our family. Now we are already armed with a set of walkie-talkies so that we can talk while making gestures through the floor length windows. The suffering won’t be long. We will find another one of the units and move over when the lease is over here in the next two or three months.
