Highest Place's No Closer to God

We went to the first temple, the Dazhao Palace. It was so crowded. Tibetans are going around adding oil to the burning lamps. I was astonished by the mix of religions and commercialism. Right outside the temple, there is a huge flea market. Julie was checking out an item and said to herself that it was not good, in English. The Tibetan woman stared at her and asked, "Tibet no good?" We were both frightened.

It was such an uphill journey, literally, to climb up to the Budala Palace. Julie was very tired. The air was so dry. Food was such a problem. The good thing is we are not actually hungry. There seem to be only one kind of fish: small and narrow. When they appear on the plate, they look ghostly. I went to buy some fried fish across the street from the restaurant we ate. This way, at least, I didn’t have to share my food with other people.

We decided we are adding another trip to tomorrow's activity. We are going to go to the highest and biggest lake in the world.
