She Reads. And There's No Stopping To It

She started to read at the age of about 3 1/2. Now I realized Sienna can read! She READ, fluently, the whole 16-page book she brought home from school last night while she was only required to read 9 pages. Then she told me it was a secret. She didn't want to tell her teacher. She really READ them according to the sounds of them. At some places, she had to figure out something like "t-u-b, tub."

I am so proud of her that I copied the whole book for record:

Del was bad. Del had a gun. The gun got the dog wet. Del got the cat wet. The cat was sad. The cat ran. Del ran up to Jon. Del got Jon wet. Jon was mad. Del ran. Jon ran to get Del. Del ran up to Viv. Del got Viv wet. Viv was mad at Del. Viv ran to get Del. The dog was mad at Del. The cat was mad at Del. Jon was mad at Del. And Viv was mad at Del. Del hit a big tub. The dog had the gun. The dog ran. Del was in the tub. It was wet in the big tub. Del was wet and sad. It was not fun to get wet.

I was so impressed. I made all kinds of facial expressions and vocal exclamations to show my surprise. She loved it and laughed so hard. She said, "I cannot stop laughing."

That's not it. She started to read Eric Carle's "The Very Hungry Caterpillar." Yes, again the whole book, word for word. I did read to her the book a couple of times. But she still had to guess from the sounds of the word like "light”, "moon", "Sunday"... Oh, my god. It was just such a happy night for her and her mommy!

  • Hi, can you tell me the name of that book? Thank you?

Kevin could read most of Dr. Seuss's books himself now. Got the same feeling here....hehehe

Sienna is such a smart girl:-)
