Hitting the Right Notes
I went to my last singing lesson with a little gadget, an MP3 with built-in recorder. I taped my singing over the piano. I thought I made a little but substantial progress this time. And I have the teacher's comments (or compliments) to back it up.
My happy mood was shattered though when I listened to my own singing last night. I have already re-located my focus of strength, but I still sound piercing and irritating. The good thing is, I comforted myself, that I don't think I would be converted to sing in an operatic way. My intention is to combine that with my original voice. So far, I am still on the right track.
Meanwhile, Sienna has not stopped singing. She always sings more than she talks. She thinks she and Rachel are natural singers. Only Mommy I need the singing lessons. She sometimes practices stepping-up "la-la-la-la-la" to show me how it should be treated.
She is very skillful with "Twinkle, twinkle little star." She can sing it while she plays on the piano. Daddy intentionally showed her only the first sentence of "happy birthday" song and told her to listen. Now and then she goes to the piano and try to figure out which is the correct keys to hit for the rest of the song. She is definitely getting the whole tune.
