Watch Out, A Rising Star On the Air

Last night, I appeared on a local Mandarin radio station for their late night talk show. The topic was astrology with the New Year in perspective. I was nervous about the event and prepared mentally every situation I could impossibly encounter. In fact, one hour passed so fast. We only had enough time to take 2 calls with the rest of the lines blinking in line all the time. I wish I had another few more hours to say what I wanted to share with the audience.

Basically, with the help of the hostess, I was talking about that the newspaper horoscope should not be taken seriously. Prediction is possible but it takes a lot of efforts and time of an astrologer. But astrology can be a very useful tool in finding the ways to understand oneself as well as others. I asserted that astrology is based on science. I am not a psychic. I only acquired certain knowledge that everybody can have access to knowing if you want to. When a new year is coming, it’s the time we rethink about how we get to know ourselves better through different ways, astrology included.

The first guy called in offering his and his wife’s birth data. I mentioned that his astrological set up reminds me of President Clinton with a sunny and confident exterior and a lot of leadership capacity. He laughed and said that was so true. I then commented on how his wife is an extremely sensitive person. He responded saying something like that was not so true, his wife doesn’t say much until one day she would say something that shows that she knows exactly what he was doing along the way. Except himself, everybody under the sun (or the stars) knew he confirmed again what I was saying.

Another person, a girl, called in and called herself Sunny. With Cancer Sun and Leo Moon, I said, “Sunny, your astrological chart reminds me of your name.” I advised how she and her husband get along and where the glitch could be. I pointed out that with her steamy personality, she would come up with goals that are larger than life and she would become impatient with her husband’s slowness in putting things into action…

My friends and the husabnd who listened in all had good things to say about my performance. I somehow managed to compressed my otherwise piercing voice and made it a bit magnetic and very natural -- do you hear narcissistic tune in me saying this? Still I could only listen to 1 minute of the recording Lui did for me. I still could not bear hearing my own voice.

Next week the same time, we will have another segment when I will be talking about how to use the hints from the planets to guide our interaction with our children.
