Playdate
The boy told me on our way back from the skating trip, “I like Sienna. And Sienna likes me. It is a secret. You don’t tell anybody.” I said, “Should I at least tell your Daddy?” I teased him and turned to his Dad who took him that day. “Oh, no, I beg you not.”
Today the boy’s parents extended their invitation for Sienna to go over for a play date. Suddenly it’s not hard to imagine me driving a teenage daughter on her real date. I brought a KFC holiday bucket as our lunch contribution. The kids spent the time watching TV and playing games. At one point, the Dad assigned some home work dictating Chinese and English phrases. I had a good time chatting with the Mom and the Dad. They resided in Toronto for a few years like us before they went to live in the mother’s hometown in Europe.
