The Non-Christmas Day

In Canada, people have gradually replacing “Merry Christmas” with a more politically-correct “Happy Holidays.” Out of my personal intentions, I have always tried to play down the importance of Christmas, or holidays all together with Sienna. Because Chinese are catching up speedily with the Christmas hype, I continue to make my points.

In the past few days, I bought Sienna a series of items including this lovely crocs mammoth. I referred none of them to be our Christmas presents for her. She wrapped a few items for herself and put them under the Chinese Christmas tree. Then she opened one after another just before today, something like Mr. Bean.

To me, everyday is a holiday and needs to be celebrated. In the same token, she needs to appreciate all the present we give her all year round. So think lightly about holiday present giving ritual. This way, she will not get disappointed in the future about people falling behind her expectation.
