Skill of Skipping Rope
A couple of weeks ago, 4 of Sienna’s classmates got picked to attend skipping rope contest at the school. That must have prompted her interest in that spot. She started to feel her way with a rope I bought her. The beginning seemed to be hopeless. She couldn’t even make it for one count. Like anything else she attempted, being bubble blowing, whistling, finger snapping, she treats her spots very seriously. Gradually, she was getting a handle on it. She made it to over 50 counts in fast movements and topped everyone else in the class. I asked if she wanted to talk to the teacher about joining the contest. She thought about it then she decided she would skip the opportunity. The contest was taking place any day soon. I didn’t push. A contest can be anything anywhere anything. A skill and the spirit you put into learning the skill remain. She has mastered what matters the most.
