My iPhone and I
Speaking of my friend’s unwelcome habit, I have one of my own to pull myself out from. I admit that I spend way too much time online, in fact, every waking hours, you might say. Just when I thought I could do something about my internet obsession, it got even better, or worse. My perception of the world is further scaled down from two 17 inch monitors lying side by side in front of me to a 4.5 X 2.5 inch screen right in my palm.
Here is how my day runs through it and around it.
- wake up every morning to the dog barking sound from iPhone
- check the temperature to decide what to put on for Sienna.
- set the timer so that I don't burn the noodles that I cook for her.
- turn on Toronto’s Mix 99.9 music station via the iPhone Safari browser when Sienna eats her breakfast.
- surf the net for the news and gossip, browse product items when I am not on the computer, or sit by Sienna’s side when she does her home work or piano, or sometimes when I am on the taxi.
- use the translator from Chinese to English and vise versa to show Sienna
- take notes using the notepad. My finger-tip scribbling (instead of hand writing) turns into prints
- text-message grocery shopping list to our domestic helper.
- take pictures and send them to friends right away. Most of the recent pictures on my blog come from iPhone shots.
- receive email message when it comes in
- take a photo and sketch on it
- record Sienna’s piano and play it back to her.
- lest I forget, also use the iPhone to make all the phone calls.
You tell me. How do I let go something so fantastic even it's the worst habit?
