Take Us Somewhere, Anywhere

Our neighbors downstairs are real jet set people… They took their lovely daughters, one is 7, the other 7, to the States for a two-week vacation in July. The next thing I knew, the husband flew back to the same continent again. The wife followed him a couple of days later. They joined somewhere and came back together. I was thinking we should have a get together over the weekend. So I called. The wife was on a business trip again. The rest of the family was away in another city visiting the grandma’s.

I am not just a nosy neighbor keeping track on other people’s life, I am also looking for inspirations. I try to invite the feeling of traveling the world like taking a trip to the grocery store down the street.

As we got along real smooth, I mentioned that we should tag along when they go somewhere next time. To that, the wife said to me yesterday, “Let’s go to Tahiti for a week. We have a week off between September and October,” I came home and searched the web to find the exact location of Tahiti. I presented the trip proposal to the husband, without mentioning the 12 hours flight to Oakland, New Zealand and another 5 hours thereafter. He was never so easy upon hearing an outing plan. “maximum one week though,” said he.

So I got back to our friend, “Wow, so many hours on the plane. But hey, if you go, we go.” Detecting the slightest reluctance on my part, she said, “Tahiti we must go. But maybe we go to Maldives this time.” Here I am, looking for everything about Maldives on the web.
