At Big Brother's House

After dinner last night, I took Sienna for a little visit at Abby's. It was dark and raining. Sienna was very happy because at long last, she could use her umbrella, walking from the car door to the front door... "Oh, Mommy, they have a new car..." Apparently someone came to work on the house. But she would have to notice it.

I realized Sienna has slowly but surely been growing out of her shy phase and into a little social being. "Abby, can I have something to eat?" she started her routine of asking for food. I have long stopped explaining to people, "She ate already." When I was a little girl, I got punished by Mom and Dad for asking for food or eating without their permission at my neighbours' house. It was a part of mannerism they imposed on me. So, babe, no traumatisation from me to you!

Sienna soon disappeared tagging Jordan along. I went in to check. Jordan was practising his guitar. Sienna was jumping on his bed like on a trampoline. Now, 13-year-old Jordan was officially ranked the third on her list as her best friends right after Rachel (who turned 10 today, Happy birthday Rachel!) and 4-year-old Olivia.

Jordan is the coolest kid on the blocks and at school. Approaching the height of 6 feet, he is athletic and talented. And yet he is extremely gentle and sweet. He would carry Sienna onto the pool table and let her hold the cue with him to make a shot. Just a touching sight to watch.

When I first met Jordan, he was about Sienna's age. Years later, he got to tell me, "Min, you never have to worry about Sienna's homework because you have me!" Isn't it the sweetest thing you could hear from a big brother friend of your child!? I told the crowd this at his Bar Mitzvah party last summer. Jordan responded with a chuckle at the podium, "Yeah, I said that. But I am worried about my own homework..." See, that's why I said he is the coolest.

How lucky for Sienna to have these big brother and big sister as her friends!
