A Bottomless Pit

Sienna was born at 50% of the growth chart. She shot up to 90% for weight and height within the first year. Then she dropped to 50% and has stayed there ever since. If you only look at the way she eats without looking at her, you might think she is a really chappy kid. I keep asking myself the question that I asked her doctor, "where did the food go?" The doctor said that was the best question that he ever heard.

Like tonight, she ate a full cause of meal with veggies and protein and two small bowls of soup. Then she proceeded with fruits. Then she came up with an idea. I don't know where she got it. She asked for sandwich with banana and peanut butter. I used a whole wheat pita packet as sandwich. She loved it and wanted more. I was reluctant. She went, "Mommy, I tell you a secret, you give me some more." Getting close to my ear, she whispered, "I tell you a secret. Mommy, I love you. Go, please go and get me more sandwich." How can a mother living in such an affluent society resist such an emotional bribe from her own child for more food? I gave her and myself each a portion.

Like me, she really loves food. Like me, we don't get fat from food. I guess the conclusion is we kind of eat the right food.
