It Could Be Another Moral Issue
For the past week, we have been having 2 workers coming everyday for our house makeover. They show up around 9 o’clock in the morning. This morning, because of the weekend, I set my cell phone alarm to 9:01am. However, Sienna was calling out mommy and talking loudly to her friend Furby already around 8:15. I went in to her room with my PJ, complaining, “Be quiet, It’s Father’s Day today. Let your daddy sleep.”
I pulled the thick corduroy window curtains and the blinds behind them. Looking out the window, one of the workers was already outside the drive way waiting. He didn’t want to ring the bell to wake up. “Oh, he is already here,” I went to get the door for him and came back. Sienna said to me, with a bit of reluctance, “I saw him, that was why I was calling you, mommy.” I said immediate, “no, you didn’t Sienna. Don’t lie to me… why didn’t you tell me that?... ” At this stage, to lie actually shows her mind is working. I just wanted to show her that her lying didn’t work out. I am thinking of a way to avoid it as a moral issue. It’s easy for parents to identify something as right and wrong. A lot of things, including lying, cannot be simply categorized as right and wrong.
