Switching to Mandarin

I took Sienna to a Christmas party at the international school across the street. We were going to send her there if we couldn’t get her in the Chinese speaking school that she is attending now. The gym was a place of an international fair, a lot like a party in Toronto actually, except there were more Chinese in the crowd here. I guess that’s how the world is going to be more or less and sooner or later. That’s why it’s wise of us to do everything and keep two languages going with Sienna. I figured if we have successfully made Sienna speak Mandarin by speaking to her in Mandarin only then, we could do it the other way around with her in English. So we switched two months before we left Toronto – we speak to her in English now. I am not sure how far it can go. But I will first of all make it my mission instead of hers. The good thing is she now reads English and writes in cursive. All we need to do is to help her and keep it up.
