the first time i saw my neighbour...

Lights flashing fiercely as they were reflecting on the dinning room French door. I looked outside - an ambulance, and a fire truck were waiting at the door across the street. A few minutes later, an old man was being rolled out on a stretch. This was the first time I ever saw my neighbour.

We moved here to be in a more community-like environment, a place better for Sienna to grow up in. This has not been happening yet. From a garage sale, we got to know this Jewish family F, next door to our neighbour across the street. H did bring his 80-year-old mother over to learn playing Chinese majon when my parents were visiting. At one point of time, I called him up. He was not in. When he called back, I said, "H, i was not just noisy. A fire truck was in front of your house before I saw your next door neighbour being rolled out in stretch..."

Somehow we got the impression that the three-car-garage house with manicured front lawn housed at least 3 generations under the same roof. According to H, an old Greek couple live there alone. And the husband I saw has been battling the cancer.

Hope this is not the last time i saw him...
