fish is gone. but where is the heaven?
i for one don't want sienna to be fragile emotionally. i would slightly feel disappointed if one day she decides to become a vegitarian out of moral reason. i would blame myself for not instill her the down-to-earth morality.
a while ago, a mother i know was talking about how she helped her daughter deal with the death of their pet fish. would it make her happy if she knew the fish's gone to haven? some suggested. i said to her, "there are not just happiness and laguthers in real life. sorrows and tears are built into it to make it so precious and beautiful. we cannot protect our cubs all the time, we might as well prepare them for a real life ahead of them. i think you did exactly the right thing with meredith, especially the part when you told her that the dog is going to die some day too. you are preparing her. tears are inevitable once in a while. what's important is what we do before and after we do the crying... "
now here comes sienna's turn. our four fish in the tank decided to go all together. sienna was upset, just a little bit. then she said, "well, the fish is gone, we need to get new ones." all right, that's my kind of girl.
