no nonsense conversations
sienna started to make more and more sense with her language. it's so wonderful if you consider she was barely able to say anything at all just a couple of weeks ago. maybe a case of no transition between learning the words and actually using them? still she doesn't say much, only enough to make her points clear every time she opens her mouth. i cannot say i was worried about her not being able to speak, because through non-verbal communication with her, i thought i did understand her alot already. now, all of a sudden, there is so much more to know about her as a little person. this has been such an experience for me that it could be compared with a miracle. i am just totally thrilled.
we went to visit the birth place of norman bethune in gravenhurst. bethune was a great canadian surgeon who went to work with the chinese revolutionaries during the second world war. he is still remembered by millions of chinese as the role model of an unselfish friend. back inside the car, i was commenting about how sienna is a little person with a lot of self-respect and yet she is not selfish. my dad said, "oh, you sound like your daughter is the grand-daughter of norman bethune!" we all laughed including sienna, who commented at the end, "grandpa, you like talking nonsense!" that produced more laughs.
