surprises for the teach and for us
we were waiting for our conference with the teachers with sienna. the principal came along and said, "you know, normally we don't allow the kid to come in with you. sienna can come because she doesn't have any ISSUE." well, good to know.
to begin with, we thanked both of the teachers for a great job they have done. she is such a busy, happy and calm kid at home. that's how we tell how she does at school.
again, ms angie calls her "my little assistant". if the teacher reminds of somebody of something, sienna will relay the message to make sure that kid hears it. the teahcers say, she makes both teachers laugh because she appears to be so concentrated on what she is doing, yet, she is always aware of what's happening around her. nothing escapes her.
sienna makes sure that she gets what everybody gets. if the teacher gives every kid a hug and sienna is about to be skipped for standing too far away, she would stand forward and say to the teacher, out, loud and smiling, "what about me?" and of course, she gets a hug too. once they were doing geography subject among older kids. the teacher would ask if they know which continent they are from. sienna was standing outside the circle listening attentively. she stared at the teacher and her eyes demanding, "hey, ask ME the question!" the teacher got her message and did ask her the question.
sienna has developed and increased her circle of friends. she has about 5 of them. i figure that is 1/3 of the class. the teacher says sienna is clearly the leader even she is the youngest in the whole class.
sienna is a good eater. she eats everything even the garden salad that other kids don't want to touch.
the surprise for us from the teachers: sienna has completely done away with her naps. they have 1.5 hour nap time, she would stay in her bed being quiet and not disturbing other kids, but she never falls asleep. that leaves her having around 10 hours sleep or less a day. the teacher says she is totally alert and concentrates very well throughout the day. so i guess we don't need to do anything if a child can get by with the hours of sleep she has.
the surprise for the teacher from us is, "not talking enough?" both of the teachers laughed when we said she is relatively a quiet child. sienna is in fact quite chatty. and she never utters a word of chinese according to the teachers.
