in control of the remote control and more
sienna turns on the TV herself and flip the remote control to get to her favorite channel.
after school today, she did just that. and she asked for something to eat. i said, "remember daddy said you could either watch TV or eat something, but not both at the same time?" i heard no argument from her.
as i turned away and back, the TV was shut off. she looked at me, saying nothing. what can i say? i gave her something to eat. as i turned around the second time though, the TV was turned back on. she got what she wanted when the tv was off. now the tv was on because she didn't need to ask for the food. smart kid, huh? all played out in her logic.
the point is to have the negotiations going, not to have to win all the time as parents. besides, what kind of rule is that, anyways? we have TV right in front of the dinner table. does that say enough already?
