The phonics of "ABC"

i cannot really take credits for sienna's progress in this. so far, i only read an english book to sienna in english if it rhythms, "green eggs and ham" and "madeline", for example. the rest of the books, english or chinese, i read out loud in chinese. we make an effort to speak to her in chinese mandarin only at home.

usually, knowing "abc" is considered the basics of reading. the teachers at sienna's preschool taught her the phonics of "abc", from the very beggining. sienna never really learnt 26 letters except the "abc" song she or everybody sings. the teachers started from phonics. i don't actually know how. but they made a point that we should NOT teach her how to pronounce "abc" like we would in spelling. so when she sees a word, she will have more or less an idea as how it should sound. i think this is a very good method.
