last day of the year, obviously

i came to work for the only day i had to between christmas and the new year. as soon as i sat down with my coffee and bagel, i was told, "you can go after you finish your coffee." it's just one of those days when you find no reason to complain about life.

yet, half a world away on the coast of indian ocean, over a hundred and half thousands of people lost their lives to the roaring tsunami while they were spending their day like my day today. it's so easy to forget the fact. but the plates that consist the earth planet keep moving into each other or drifting apart. any significant activities of the plates could break the ground, literally, or send waves of distruction to human lives. how sad, devasting and helpless! all the news organizations are coming up with their list of the 2004's headlines. this had to happen to top everyone's list.

i will have to make my however tiny contribution to the world-wide relief efforts.
