eBay Drama

After over 13 transactions as a winning buyer and encouraged by my first successful attempt to sell a used Meridian phone, I decided to get rid of a small-size refrigerator in the basement. I asked around if anybody wanted it, no one responded. As soon as I listed on eBay and broadcast my venture, somebody said, "you could have just sold it to me." Well, too late.

I asked for a minimum of US$50 for local pick-up only. I stated that it has been used for only a few months. And the size is just right for an apartment or a basement bar. Within one day, I saw 4 people listed it as an watch item. Certainly excellent sign for me as I had no high hope for the winning.

Tonight, somebody sent me and email, "Would you like to take $60? I will pick it up tonight or tomorrow." I laughed. What is he thinking? First, I don't know if I can cancel my listing. Second, if I manage to retrieve the listing and he takes it, my transaction with him will go with no credit. He will be in no position to give me any positive feedback. Earning my eBay credibility is a big part of my trying to sell it there. I replied to him about just what I thought.

A few minutes later, he did place a minimum bet and asked if I could take down my listing. He asserts me that we could still exchange feedbacks. I have 5 more days to go. Chances are big for me to get higher bid. But this guy did seem to get his way by imposing it on me. I have a tendency to attend to finding solutions rather than just showing sympathy. He has someone moving into his basement apartment and needs a fridge RIGHT NOW.
