Three of us in three different cities

Our friend, a venture capitalist, ventured into a new project 6 years ago when he and his wife had their third child. He got his youngest son to learn to speak Mandarin by hiring a Chinese nanny and taking Chinese lessons from a Chinese teacher. As if these efforts weren’t enough, two weeks ago, he brought his son J along with his nanny to come to China for a tour. And they were going to meet us up in Shanghai.

They didn't know that we arrived a day early. The original plan was to meet at the airport where I gave them the tickets I booked for all of them to fly to Beijing. When I called them this morning, they happened to be in the zoo where I used to visit many time as a child. And the foreign expats compound is right next to it. So instead of meeting them at the airport, they all came to join us at our frineds’ place. I ordered sandwiches and ribs for every body. Sienna went with them to go to Beijing first leaving me behind for one more day.

I went to visit our artist friend who used to live in Toronto and had a studio/gallery space at the famed art district in the city. They took me out for a fantastic dinner at night.

So today, three of us are in three different cities . Lui is still in Tianjing with his mom. I am in Shanghai. Sienna is with her friend J and the entourage staying at a 5-stay hotel near Tiananmen Square.
