Breaking News, Sort of
We had a late but hearty Father’s day dinner with Rachel’s family. Other than that, the biggest event of the day had nothing to do with nature of the day yesterday. The breaking news of the house in the morning was, as Sienna reported first thing in the morning, a cocoon in her collection broke and a moth came into being.
This summer so far has been about caterpillars. She and her friends catch caterpillars and put them in bottles or plastic containers. They bring them to the school to share with other kids and to keep them in sight. It took me the courage of going up to a roller coast to let them near my dinner table. Even writing about this is making me feel the caterpillars are coming on my body.
Anyways, one of Sienna’s caterpillars turned into a cocoon over one night. It turned into a moth the night before! Sienna was so excited. At one point of time, she said, “I want to be a scientist of caterpillars.” She called at least 3 of her friends to broadcast the news. On one of those calls, she talked over 10 minutes. She mentioned her regret about how nice if this brownish moth were in fact a beautiful butterfly.
