A Slice of Boredom
My Spanish friend's nephew J came for a 3-week summer English program and is staying with a host family in downtown. I went to pick him up today at the subway and brought him back to our house. We had some pizza for lunch. I took him to get Sienna from the camp and we went to Sienna's piano practice together. At one point of time, I left him in the piano teacher's house to flip the TV channels and drove to drop off Rachel and other 3 kids for their Tae Kwon-Do practice. Then I took him and Sienna to Canadian Tire to buy a destructive weapon for mosquitoes. In the evening, we went for Japanese food.
I feel slightly guilty. When I was in Barcelona, J's aunt took me to see the Mediterranean for the first time. The bar, the shoe stores and the square. Now I am taking him on my errands. I wish I had cooked up something more interesting to do for the 24-year-old. Think again. This is a day in the life of a Chinese Canadian woman, boring but real. Maybe it's a field trip to find how one can make the best out of some seemingly boring reality.
