My Egg Rolls Rocked
We went to a really big party yesterday with over a hundred other people to celebrate our friend’s 70th birthday. He is a renowned Canadian writer, a son of another renowned Canadian writer. There is a bridge named after his father in the city. We have been going to their house party for over 10 years now and typically spent our every new year’s eve with the elite literature figures of our town…
Another big thing about the party was that I made 150 egg rolls and sea food fried rice as part of my contribution. The hostess hinted if I could roll out my specialty egg rolls once more. We are the only Chinese attending the party. I found no way to reject the opportunity of showing off my home country’s cousin art as well as my cooking talents.
In the middle of my task, a family law lawyer and a psychologist dropped by our house. We are not using any of their services. They are also two very dear friends of ours for many years. After their meeting with Sienna, part of the reason they came to visit, I sent Sienna to her play date. I kept on with my egg rolls. I even squeezed the time to take a shower and get myself in clean clothes so that I didn’t give away my identity as the Chinese cook by the onion smell.
The party was fabulous, as always. My egg rolls rocked. Sienna was happy she got a sleep over chance at Rachel’s.
