Pop Project

I hate to carry any trait of being egotistical. But it does feel like this: People on the face of the earth tend to get mobilized if I get some kind of project underway.

A few days ago, I told a couple of my friends that I have been tuning in to pop music lately, due much to the influence of my dear friend, 12-year-old Rachel. Now I could actually tell those pop artists don’t sing the same songs over and over again. They have their distinctive styles and personalities. I was even able to pick up my favorites... ...

Those friends responded with encouragements and they suggested that I expand my horizon further. What about Black Eyed Peas, or Eminem, or 50cents or Goo goo dolls? They said. And the list goes on to include Shakira, U2 and Michael Buble etc, etc.

Last night, one of these friends called to alert me of the “Live Earth” event. In continuous 24 hours, there would be a lineup of 100 most popular pop singers performing in a series of worldwide concerts -- so that I could have a review of each of their style. Well, they are also doing it to raise awareness for the climate crisis on our earth planet.

Yet, I missed the 23 hours and 3 quarter of the “Live Earth” concert all because the busy living on Saturday: piano class, play date with Olivia and a lobster dinner in the house... ... In those 15 minutes of watching, I got a glimpse of the Australian stage and a few very educational commercials about environment. Quite inspirational! Maybe my next project should be becoming a vegetarian, if it’s convinced to be something good for myself when I am alive and for the planet earth when I am gone.
