Movie About Food Could Be Better Without It
No class and no camp – a long stretch of 6 days for me to fill up with activities since last Wednesday. My main concern is the policing work in the snack department. Sienna asks for one thing after another. I try to put in her head the idea about how sweet things make someone fat and unhealthy. She goes, “I will lose weight later…” She looks like she could put on a few ponds. And I have no intention of depriving her food. I feel I am on a mission to give her some goods habits that she could benefit for the rest of her life.
Other than that, I don’t mind taking her here and there. In fact, I don’t mind taking other kids. This afternoon, I took Sienna, 5 year old J and 12 year old Rachel all together for a movie, Ratatouille. They got their treat combo: Popcorn, bottled water (special request, no pops please). I was going to confiscate their Kinder eggs. In the dark, they all consumed their own.
The movie turned out to be the best among what I’ve seen in a long while. How? I didn’t even fall asleep! Like the chef-wannabe rat, I am an advocate of fine food. Not any food that fills up your stomach or gives you temporary relief of sugar addiction. In this part of the world, this is something completely possible to do. When luckily we don’t need to fight for the lack of food, let’s put a little zest into fighting against the excessiveness of it.
