It's Easy to Say "Take It Easy"

In Chinese, we don’t have a word for “Thursday”, we call it “the forth day of the week.” Last week when my girl friend and I were setting up a plan to have a yoga session together at a health club nearby, she meant it to be “Thursday”, which is today. I assumed it was tomorrow, the fifth day of the week, the forth day of the month, or the year in this case...

So she called this morning, I was lying there getting a facial. There was no way I could have made it there on time and made it up for the miscommunication. My friend sounded like I was going to miss a conference that she would preside at a board room of the corporation that she works for. Well, we missed important things because we deem too many things as important. Otherwise, we could just find something to blame, like the ambiguity of the language.
