Trying to Sleep Through “Sleeping Beauty”

It was June 1st, International Children’s Day. It was a big deal when I grew up in China. It’s still a big deal today. We went to see the “Sleeping Beauty” performed by a Russian ballet company. For me, it was another napping opportunity except it didn’t go very well. It was a full house of overly-dressed princesses of China with their over-protective parents. The one behind me kept kicking my seat, making it very difficult for me to doze off. Interestingly, the show is put on a grand stage mostly for the Chinese Peking operas.
