Out On the Beach
We did a family outing over the weekend, tour-bus style again. Two tour busses were loaded with 100 people. We brought our teenager nephew and invited other two friends for a party of 6.
It was a resort hotel with a 200-meter private sand beach. If the map of China is shaped like a rooster, then the location of our destination, around 3 hours drive outside of Beijing, is right at the turn of the head and the neck.
It was a two day all-inclusive package. We dined the seafood fresh from the local fishmen, held evening seafood BBQ & concert party, swimming, taking diving lesson and canoeing. I participated actively in the eating part. The rest of the time, I sat under the beach umbrella watching the sea, the people and a pile of clothes in front of me.
Sienna’s best rewards are the sea shells she collected on the beach. The best ones are from the local vendors. They are not different from any sea shell that you can buy from the a city store except the pink star fish still smells fishy.
I also did a yoga session early in the morning with my sunglass on. Doing it right next to the sea is not as romantic as one would imagine. The sands got in my mouth and hair. The sun was already pilling up the heat. In a competition I participated though, I did by accident win a grand price, a Sony Picture Station printer. This was to reward me for being a non-beach person yet very cooperative on the beach in getting myself tortured in the sun. If it weren't for the family, I still won't have done it.
