an agenda of her own
it's BBQ in the summer and hot pot dinner (chinese fondue) in the winter, rachel's family and ours would always get together for a saturday evening feast.
for the last two weekends, we had a change of venue. we went to rachel's house instead. last night, by the time we got there, yiga (rachel's mom) was not done with her piano lesson yet. sienna sat on the seat in the powder room doing her business. i was squatting in front of her waiting to lend a hand. immersed in the sound of music, she suddenly goes, "shshsh, mommy, be quiet!" mind you, she was the one talking.
i asked, "sienna, do you want to learn piano from yiga?" as she holds up my face with both of her hands -- like what a mother would usually do to her daughter but not the other way around -- she lowers her voice, "mommy, when i grow up, ok?"
two questions: 1) do i sound like a push-over mommy by even asking her that question? 2) does she look like someone who can be pushed around by her mommy? obviously she's got her own agenda.
