Home-Made Storybook 1

So the book bag program has been going on very well. Everyday, Sienna brings back a book with a teacher's note that indicates the day's date and the pages that she is supposed to read at home. The next day, the book goes back with her to school. And she read those same pages to her teacher as reinforcement. Then she moves on. She is on the last book of the first set. There are 5 sets all together designed for K to Grade 2 kids.

At home, I don't need to push her at all. I set up a rule. That was all I did - I put off her after-dinner snacks till the book is read. So she will pick up the book herself. She usually reads out the pages at one try. You go, girl! I would immediately serve her due snacks. It's a beautiful thing to have rules in place.

I cannot take credit for her reading progress so far. Her teachers are doing a great job. But I do want to contribute to it. So I wrote a story for her to read. I am pretty sure she will find it interesting to have her and Max written into the story. I use all the words she knows and the story is told in the same style of the storybooks that the school uses with her. And here we go:
Sienna has a cat.
The cat is Max.
Max ran to a bug.
The bug was red.
And the bug had dots on it.
Max ran to get the bug.
Max did not get the bug.
The bug was on top of a hut.
Max was sad.
Sienna ran to Max.
Sienna sat on a log.
Max sat on Sienna's lap.
Max got up to the hut.
The bug was up on a tree.
Max did not get the bug.
Sienna and Max ran to the tree.
Max was not sad.
Sienna and Max had fun.
