Super Nanny Meets Disciplinarians
Some interesting twists in this week's Super Nanny episode. At the beginning, Jo goes in and takes her first day to observe, as usual. Life in the house carries on, as usual. She then has an evaluation session with the parents, as usual.
The parents though are having some rather unusual reactions. Think about it. One of them is a policeman on the street and the other a grade school teacher. They are the disciplinarians of our socity. How could it be easy for them to accept that they have major problems in dispciplining their own kids? The father policeman almost snapped. He even wrote a note and passed on to his wife saying, "I think she (our super nanny) is full of [bleep]."
Jo, the super nanny, on the other hand, was super cool and candid. "To find the solutions, we have to start with honesty," said she. She carried out her correction plan and quickly turned the tide. Their 6-year-old drama queen and a 1-year-old screamer were completely "tamed" before Jo made any effort to convince the parents.
In my opinion, the children are much easier no matter how difficult they may appear to be. The problems almost always lie with us, the parents. We begged others for better ways to improve ourselves as parents. I admit, when somebody really gets in at it, I don't take it as I breathe the fresh air in the spring. Because it not about how to change my child, it's more about how to change me...
But it's the lesson we MUST be committed to learning. The key to our problems is an open mind on top of a heart filled with boundless love. Let's keep our mind open and therefore cool. Our heart could mislead us even when it comes to our own children.

good for you! every time when this happens, IMMEDIATELY, at least look at her in the eye and tell her it's wrong, if you cannot do any timeout routine. again and again. but when her daddy came home, you still didn't want to carry her, she might already forgot what was it about... you crack me up. but the idea of not giving in on her every request is brilliant, from your point anyways. i alway try to take at least the 4th or 5th request off her list...
