Rock-a-bye Baby
The lawn company came and did their first mowing job a couple of days ago. So I went in with Sienna to dig out some dandelions at the edge of the yard. Sienna picked up this rock somewhere under the hedges and she won't let it go since.
We washed it and wiped it. She carried this 3 lb object inside her pink treasure box everywhere she goes in the house. At night, the rock lies besides her pillow. Sienna calls it her baby. Later today, Dad helped to paint a face on it. I am nervous because the rock could break her tender bones on the foot if it slips off her hands. This morning, she wanted to take it with her and show it to her ballet teacher... I said "No."
How peculiar! Dad and I aren't so worried. It's better than if she is obsessed with some dull doll, we figured. Sienna is not a stuff-animal and pretty doll type of pre-schooler although she has piles of them. A rock gives her a different perspective: the weight, the texture, the feel... It rocks to fall in love with a rock for a change...
