Playground Drama

Image hosted by Photobucket.comFor the past few weeks, we have been taking Sienna to play meet Olivia after dinner time. Yesterday, we parents were talking about how these two girls couldn't stand each other in the beginning but not before long, they seem to have formed an exclusive partnership with each other. Like in a marriage, they do have little conflicts but they have learnt to compromise and let go...

Just done talking, we saw sparks flying. When I caught it, Olivia was crying covering her eyes with her both hands. Sienna was handing her a piece of object, "ok, you can have it. Olivia, you can have it..." It appeared that Olivia got upset because Sienna didn't let her have this little piece of object in the first place. Olivia kept crying. Sienna kept handing her this thing and calling her name, "Olivia, here, Olivia," and then Sienna raised her voice and burst out crying, "Olivia..." She was so upset apparently because her pal couldn't stop being upset...

I said something like, "let Olivia cry a little bit, she is going to be ok." Mostly I sat still watching. Olivia's Dad came over and started making sand castles with them. They went back to play like nothing happened.

I was a little surprised by Sienna's reaction. But it seemed all emotionally logical to me. Moreover, it seemed like the way I would have reacted when I was younger or even now. I felt for her even though I don't really know what to make out of it yet. Not pleasant feeling -- one of many many things that she will have to handle in her life.
