Escape from Embarrasement
I drove to this mid town train station and parked my car with a big sigh of relief --still 4 minutes to spare before the train came by. I approached a ticket vending machine thinking I could use my credit card to buy another package ticket of 10. The notice on the machine says that it only sells one ride tickets or day passes. Well, I had two rides left on my tickets...
As I stepped on the ramp of the platform, the train was pulling in already. Sienna and I got on the train and sat down by the window. Suddenly, I realized that I forgot to punch my ticket on the machine next to the vending machine.
They do random ticket checks from time to time. I was so uneasy sitting there thinking hard what to do if I got caught. Something eased my mind. I had two brand new one-hundred-dollar bills in my wallet. I rehearsed in my mind how I was going to tell my story with one of these bills if he ever shows up to check my ticket. And I had tickets punched throughout the whole last week to show this was just an accident. I was pretty sure my forgetfulness could be forgiven with my sincerety and money... Following this train of thoughts, I relaxed and enjoyed the rest of the ride as usual.
