Meet the Crowds

This is one of the missions that I want to accomplish with Sienna from time to time. Either it is the Santa Claus Parade, the Carabana, or the Gay Pride Parade..., just to name a few. I always try to gather enough courage, just to beat the traffic and take her out there in the crowds. Today we were out to attend Street Festival, another one of the city's traditions.

I was talking to Olivia's mom last night. She said Olivia's the most "passionate" kid out of her three siblings. She would go places, take to the new enviornment and appreciate the things she sees around her. Sienna sounds just the opposite of Olivia. The best words to describe Sienna's reactions to being in this kind of events would be "unaffected" and "oblivioius" if not "bothered." I am not trying to turn Sienna into a passionate crowd lover. But as part of the balancing act of parenting, I always want to get her the necessary exposure to the crowds. For someone like me, the most definite home-buddy, this is a huge effort on my part.

I told S, not before long, Sienna would ask to go home. We went with S and her two kids. We watched on the main stage a lady in yellow gold dress singing and mining songs from "Beauty and Beast." Also some of the African descendents performing folk dances and beating the drums. Sienna got her ballons, yellow, blue and purple from the different festival sponsors. A round of popsicles for the kids. Another round of icecream... We two moms treated ourselves Ice Chillers from the Second Cup... The tempareture was a scotching 33 Cecile. Sienna said something that I couldn't hear because of the street noises. "What did you say, Honey?" I asked. "I want to go home," Sienna said it again. S and I just laughed.

Another thing about our excursion today -- Sienna was back on her stroller. I did ask people and made sure that her pre perego stroller could sustain her clost to 40lb without being crashed. For almost 3 and half hours, Sienna sat like a rock on it. Finally back home around 3:30pm, I took a sip of a well-chilled Labatt Blue bottle. I was glad that I was got out of the crowds. And I was glad that I got Sienna out in the crowds for once again.

Sienna at about 15 months old taking part at the Gay Parade, reluctantly.
