Words about Marriage

We brought two of our friends together at one's house over a Greek takeout dinner. Both ladies are in their 40s and divorced with children. After exchanging briefly the storiers of their lives, one lady said to the other, "We are going to get married -- not to each other!" I think this was the most positive attitude one can have towards marriage afte a divorce. And it was funny too. Both of them expressed no regrets about getting married as well as getting divorced.

Just a while ago, I said to my hubby, my marriage partner, "It seems like everybody around me is a single mom or is becoming one. I feel like the only person standing." He said, "That means you are willing to put up a lot." I corrected him, "That means I am lucky. I got a good one (partner)." Since we both are willing to put up and cannot help paying compliments to each other once in a while, that explains why our marriage is still rocking despite rocks on the road.

  • Well said, I agree.

    Here's another thought to consider:

This happens everywhere all the time and it was true for my mom....

my dad died at the age of 33, leaving my mother a widow also at the age of 33. So she was a single mom and will soon turn 80!
