Egg-Rolling Into 2006
After we had our New Year’s champagne toast, Lui and Raymond set out to the airport to pick up our friend’s daughter F, a 19-year-old, who flew in from Shanghai for her study in Canada. It was 3 in the morning when we finally settled down to sleep. We were so glad because we got Sienna to sleep in our bed. It worked out. The whole family stayed in sleeping till around 11am. Usually Sienna would wake up earlier than a week day on a weekend morning no matter how late she went down the night before.
We went to Chinese grocery store, the only place open on such days like New Years Day. We came back and I started making egg rolls, the most popular item for any pot luck party. Sienna played with F for a good portion of the time. She asked me, "What do you say in Chinese 'hide and seek'?" And then turned around she pleaded to the big sister to play with her. F is such sweet girl. She followed us around for the shopping and the party in the evening of course.
