Rainy Weekend

The past weekend shouldn't even be counted as a weekend. It was raining and pouring for two days. Yesterday, I took Sienna and Rachel to a seasonal fan fare for rides. It was supposed to be open at 12 noon. We got there a quarter after. The workers were taking down the equipment for the year! One of the workers said, "it's raining. Nobody is coming." Kids and I insisted that it was only drizzling. Probably it was not meant to be. We already took Sienna to the place a couple of days ago. As soon as we got there, she said, plain and simple, "I changed my mind." No enough courage was gathered even for a Mary Go Around.

So I took the kids inside the mall next to the fare for lunch and some look-around before I drove Rachel home. When we got home two hours later, it was pouring already. I must say that a rainy day like that really gave us a chance to experience a different feel of our house: nice, cozy and safe. We are talking the house where the roof leak was discovered, checked and repaired last week and a brand new furnace has been humming softly the whole winter through.

I didn't complain until I had to drive back out for J's 15 birthday party at a bar and grill place. I used a huge blue/yell strip umbrella from Ikea to get Sienna and myself from the parking lot to the restaurant. I never even remembered last time I ever used an umbrella... When we first met J, he was not even Sienna's age. Now, look at the young man over 6 feet and growing. His mother and I had to sit away from the table gathered by a bunch of 15 year olds so that we didn't have to listen to what they were saying to each other.

That's just how time flies, rain and shine. That's why one has to seize the moment for the best of it.
