Dandelion Defender

I don’t know how I did it. But I did. In my usual full-Saturday schedule of programs and dinner party, I squeezed in a couple of hours attacking dandelions and destroying a number of sucker trees in the backyard. This was a big task if you consider we have a backyard in the size of a football field. The city banned the use of pesticides; the lawn care company comes to spread the much promoted organic stuff. I am all for organic, natural and wholesome. In this case, the word “organic” seems to be the synonym of “inefficient.” Without my newly-developed hatred towards dandelions and my compulsive urge to destruct, we would have already been living on an island surrounded by a yellow sea.

Sienna was cooperative but not supportive. How so? She kept me company throughout the process, busy planting her own seeds of some kind and picking flowers of all colors. Yet, she wanted to keep the dandelions there. She complained that I ruined her garden. She knows they are weeds. But she doesn’t see any harm to have the yellow flowers around. I couldn’t persuade her. Looks like I need to get into flower planting project soon.
