A New and Very Young Friend
Yesterday afternoon, I went to the library while I was waiting for Sienna to finish her ballet. I sat on the floor in front of “M” section checking out more Robert Munsch books. Next to me, a toddler was playing with an old lady. The little girl saw me and came over. We looked at each other. Our eyes were at the same level. She then turned her back to me and sat down – on my lap! I was so pleasantly surprised.
"Hey, what's your name?" I asked.
"Emma," she said, looking up.
"Hi, Emma, do you want to know me name?" I asked.
"Emma..." she said again.
"Wow, my friend. Are you a little people person? Do you do this to everyone?” I knew my Sienna would never ever do this to a stranger. The old lady who was with Emma answered, “No, she wouldn't even do this to me. I am her grandma.”
Emma turned 2 last week. She is one of those several young kids in the past who would come over to me acting as if they knew me from their past life. They make me feel I am a human magnet or something. These little people helped to assure me in a big way - Despite my much delayed motherhood, I always knew I would become a mother.
