A Day Off
We got two themes running through the day today.
First, Sienna went for her dentist appointment. I heard it could be a big deal for other kids because they need to be convinced and coaxed into doing it. For Sienna, this became such a big deal because she was so looking forward to it. She was not even close to the excitement level when I took her to see a circus.
The dentist office is situated in a valley type of environment. When she is seated on the chair, she faces a huge window with a picture perfect view: two trees in full bloom half way of a sloping lawn, one yellow and the other pink. I never saw her so chatty with a stranger. She was telling the hygienist about her best friends in her class and how she goes to preschool, so no kindergarten. Those conversations took place during the process of having her teeth cleaned. She lied there as if she was getting a facial or manicure treatment. I could really see how she is a good customer in those areas. We got quite a clean bill. There is only one tiny little cavity the doctor was in a rush to fill.
The other part of the story is that I took a day off today acting as the lady of leisure. I wasn't so sure that I was going to do it until the last minute. Allergy is really getting on me and I had some light coughs. I could choose to keep Sienna with me. She in fact asked to get her to school. So I did. I met up with Yiga for brunch and brought food back for the husband. Took a nap in the afternoon and went to pick up Sienna. A day went so quickly by. That's how I spent quite a few years idling about in the name of helping the husband's art career. In fact, I don't quite complain either way. Only I could really have used the time to raise a kid. For now, if they could give me a three-day week to work, that would be an ideal situation.
