For the Record
I wrote this message to my friend J who is traveling Europe at the moment:
It’s so hot. It reminds me of the scotching days we spent in my southern hometown last fall. The summer is 23 days away. Yet, we had the first smog warning since yesterday. I heard in the news, it was a record setting 34c. Plus the humidity, it felt like 43c. On top of this, the TTC went on a strike without warning. Poor Torontonians! Some walked 3 hours to get to work. I walked a total of 40 minutes in a day! That was a my record in a year. I hope the accumulation of all the people’s inconvenience will ultimately help our bus drivers get their bullet proofing booths to ensure their safety behind the wheels. Still, as a world traveler, if you hear anybody complain, please check if s/he is spoiled in this part of the world. Everybody not excluded — me, Torontonians and TTC workers working for us.
In and around our house... For mere 2 days the heating didn’t come up in the morning. On the third day, the A/C was turned on. The backyard has never been so neat, green and beautiful. The new hose system is being set up. I think the green onions we planted are dying of draught.
Being away these days is a good thing. But do come back soon. We miss you!
