Mothers to Blame

Jet lag could be part of the reason to blame – I thought it was Mother’s Day today. Another good but wrong indication was that I took Sienna and Rachel to a concert “Mother’s Day Italian Classics”. It was performed by Canadian Children’s Opera Chorus and some local up and coming opera singers.

Rachel came into the car with a solemn face. I was curious about the 12-year-old's state of mind. Well, it was her mother who somehow pressured her to wear certain outfit. “Do I look like a bee?” Rachel was referring to her new yellowish T-shirt. She said she wears all the 3 T-shirts I gave her. “Sometimes, I feel I am closer to you than to my mom,” she pointed out. I laughed. It really made it up to the comments that my daughter made to me this morning. I was telling Sienna she had to practice her piano and do the Chinese home work before she could enjoy the rest of her day. Sienna responded, “You are the most mean mother in the whole wide world. You always give me hard time. Other mothers are not like you.”

  • Raising kids can be so tough. I admire you for doing it. I, unfortunately, can never be a parent due to my illness. Anyways, take care and have a great weekend!
