2 Mysteries Not to be Solved

Because of the move, we have been forced to sort out things before we moved on. I started to open the boxes containing old files,that had never been opened since we moved in this house nearly 5 years ago. In one of those folders, I found an un-cashed check from 7 years ago that contained a sufficient amount for our 2 months’ living expenses at that time. I had no idea how the check got to us, which sold painting it was related to and why it was not cashed.

Meanwhile, we opened a tube. There showed up a large painting that was supposed to be stolen at a show. The insurance company paid us through the gallery for the loss of the painting. And somehow the gallery sent us the painting at one point of time. I had no idea when the gallery sent it back and what explanation it went with it.

It’s too far back to investigate these two mysteries. And because the money we lost by not cashing the check is about the same as the insurance we got for the painting that we didn’t lose. We found a balance and don’t feel guilty about a thing. We must move on. And we are in the middle of moving. Let’s be content living with the mysteries unsolved.
